The Health & Safety of you and your family is of the utmost importance to us!
At West Campus Dental, we are proud of the sterilization and infection control procedures that we follow and we take them very seriously to guarantee your health and safety while you are being treated in our office.
Dr. Schmidt’s sterilization team maintains proper sterilization and infection control procedures at all times in our office. They follow a very strict Infection Control Protocol as mandated by the Government of Alberta for each patient. The following are some of the methods and practices employed to ensure your safety:
- Autoclave (pressurized steam): All dental instruments and hand pieces (drills) are sterilized in a high-pressure steam autoclave after each use.
- Surface Decontamination: All surfaces including counter-tops, dental chairs, stools, light handles, and control buttons are disinfected before and after every patient.
- Disposable Items: These items are not capable of being sterilized and are discarded after use on an individual patient. Such items include saliva ejectors, high speed suction tips, drinking cups, rubber cleaning cups, patient bibs, tray covers, sterilization bags, mixing pads, mixing tips, anesthetic carpules, and anesthetic needles, among others. Gloves and masks are also discarded after use with each patient.
